Taxonomy
IOC / BirdLife South Africa. Scientific names, English names, and family placement follow the IOC World Bird List as adopted by the BirdLife South Africa Checklist of Birds in South Africa 2026. Afrikaans species names come from that checklist. Afrikaans family headings come from Waterberg Bioquest only where a stable heading could be verified, and are left blank otherwise.
